Humberto Canessa Ulloa


Dancer-actor, choreographer, teacher of contemporary dance, Dupuy composition and technique, stage director, artistic producer and cultural manager. She studied at the School of Dance of the National University and the National Dance Workshop of Costa Rica, the British Academy of Ballet and a Diploma in Somatic Education for the Arts from the Javeriana University of Bogotá. Dancer Co. from Cámara Danza UNA, National Dance Company, founding member, choreographer and performer of LosDenmédium and Danza Contemporánea Independiente. In 1989 he joined the Colombian choreographer Álvaro Restrepo as part of Athanor Danza in Barcelona and Bogotá until 1997; in 1993 he created his scenic project Corpus Érigo D.C. and 97 is assistant director and dancer of the Le Pont/El Puente Project, a Colombian-French company directed by Restrepo and Marie France Delieuvin. In 1998, he founded the LINCE Project in Cali, a scenic and pedagogical research space. He offered technical classes and improvisation or composition workshops at the Colombian Ballet Institute, the National Theater House of Bogotá, Ecodanza, the Superior Academy of Arts of Bogotá, the Center National de Danse Contemporaine de Angers and Mas de la Danse de Fontvieille (France), El Barco Conservatory, Condanza, University Dance, Open Dance of the UCR in Costa Rica, among others. His choreographic work reaches more than 50 works created in his country, in Colombia, Mexico, Spain, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Peru and multiple collaborations with theater, opera, popular and traditional music, film and television. Honorable mention Best Dancer 1993; National Dance Award for Best Choreography in 2001 and 2006. He won co-productions with the Ibero-American Theater Festival of Bogotá (99-2000), a Research Workshop Grant from the Department of Culture in 2005, with Iberescena twice in 2009 Dramaturgy and in 2022 International Co-production. He was general and artistic director of the National Dance Company of Costa Rica from 2007 to 2009. From 2018 to today he is a Master of Principles, Basic and Advanced Technique of Contemporary, Choreographic Composition Workshop, Elements of Staging, Dramaturgy of Movement, Somatic Technique of the West, Contemporary Dance Ensembles in the Performing Arts Career of the Faculty of Arts of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá.
